STUDY ABROAD/CULTURAL EXCHANGE
In April 2016, Humane College led a group of 12 animal shelter professionals representing the United States and Australia on a tour of five different shelters across Ireland (with two additional un-scheduled stops along the way). We toured these facilities and met with shelter staff and volunteers. This is hands-on, immersive experience helped to expand our understanding of the animal sheltering industry while making new friends from around the globe!

Strategic Fundraising for Your Animal Shelter or Rescue Group
Now, more than at any point in history, fundraising is critical to the long-term success of any non-profit animal welfare organization. This workshop will examine where your donor dollars really come from and how an annual fundraising calendar of monthly events will help to keep the money flowing. Our interactive workshop will guide participants in the development of a comprehensive, strategic plan to help increase fundraising dollars and donors. This is a must for anyone who has the responsibility of raising money for an animal shelter or rescue group.
Afternoon 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Create and Develop a Winning Board of Directors
This workshop will examine the characteristics, skill sets and systems that make for active and productive board members of your non-profit organization. We'll provide tips and advice on how to structure your board to maximize productivity and efficacy; as well as discuss things such as meeting frequency, agendas, term limits, governance vs operational practices and much more! This workshop is ideal for new and existing board members, executive directors and anyone who works with board members.
